St Annes Boating Lake Investigation

We were asked to attend this site to investigate the condition and usability of the sea discharge pipe from the boating lake.

This required the flow from the lake to be stopped where it enters the concrete pipe section, this was done by sealing the oblong discharge point on the lake with plastic wood and sandbags. The down stream section between this point and the valve was the pumped out to sea allowing the valve inspection and a general inspection of what was in this area to be carried out.

Once this had been completed the temporary dam was removed, the pumping was stopped and the inspected section was allowed to flood again.

We were also asked to locate and trace the sea intake pipe across the lifeboat station forcourt which was found to be situated under the lifeboat ramp.
